Beide Filme haben mir sehr gut gefallen. Interessante Einblicke in die deutsche Geschichte.
Ich war sehr gespannt, da beide Filme Auszeichnungen gewonnen (was für eine Untertreibung, der 2. Film hat einen Oscar bekommen) und ich sie nicht mehr in Deutschland gesehen habe.
Die Geschichte von Sophie Scholl kannte ich schon aus der Schule, sie jetzt als Film zu sehen war echt gut, weil es viel menschlicher war. Das hat mich zum Nachdenken gebracht, a) wie politisch/ oder unpolitisch ich bin und b) wie sehr ich für meine Überzeugungen einstehe bzw. wie weit ich gehen würde.
Ich schaue gerne Filme über die DDR, schließlich bin ich dort aufgewachsen, aber ich war 9 als die Wende kam und habe nicht so viele Erinnerungen. Ich merke immer wieder, dass wenn ich mit Freunden/Verwandten über die DDR rede, dass alle sehr unterschiedliche Erfahrungen gemacht und daher auch sehr unterschiedliche Standpunkte haben. Sehr spannend für mich!

oh good to see -- we saw the Sophie Scholl story in the US and both thought it was well done. I've been interested in The Lives of Others, but hadn't yet met somebody who'd seen it themselves (i always like the personal reviews!).
We've used iTunes to download some of the Season 3 episodes of LOST to watch this weekend (in english...;)

We use Netflix here in the US to see our movies and I love it!
There is a similar system from Amazon.de in Germany. You pay a monthly fee and get the DVDs by mail. :-)

oh my goodness we are SO ADDICTED to LOST! lol we are only getting to season 3 now since we never had real tv in the US, just Netflix, which we loved. Good to know about Amazon.de's program, we were wondering about that.
Do you or David know if a US dvd player will 'talk' to a German tv? we get lots of conficting vague answers on that subject here....

my wonderful husband actually knows... :-)
He said that it will be ok to use your American DVD player with your German TV but it works only with American DVDs bc there is a differnt system with the quality of the DVDs in Europe and the US. However, David "crecked" our German DVD player so it also player American DVDs.
